Mission
IFM member companies share one goal: to protect and promote the health of infants and young children, including those with special dietary problems, through adequate and nutritious infant feeding.
Representing the Infant Food Manufacturing Industry
Founded on February 23, 1984 in Paris, France, IFM includes members of both national and international companies with operations in the USA, Europe and Asia. The companies share the same objectives:
- To encourage scientific research and development and to promote science-based regulation of the infant and dietary food industries at national, regional, and international levels.
- To deal directly with United Nations agencies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Codex Alimentarius Commission and UNICEF, as well as with governments, professional associations, NGOs and consumer groups, in all matters relating to infant food.
- To promote high ethical standards within the infant food industry.
- To provide information and education to health workers so they can instruct mothers on safe and adequate nutrition for infants and young children.
- To support health workers with information about safe and adequate infant feeding practices.
